CUNYSTEVE Posted July 30, 2011 Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 Embarrassingly enough, i ran out of gas. I coasted to the side of the road and had a friend bring me gas. Now the car still wont start. I tried it so many times that the battery is now dead. When i hit the gas tank with a rubber hammer it ran for about 10 seconds before it stalled out again. I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get my caddy back running. Hoping i dont have to replace the fuel pump, any help is greatly appreciated. When you turn on the key do you hear the pump run? JimD Posted July 30, 2011 Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 Ditto on how much fuel did you put in the tank??? If you are lucky, the fuse opened before the pump motor was destroyed. Check the 20A fuse labeled F/PUMP in the fuse box under the rear seat bottom cushion. If it is a failed pump motor, it can be changed through an access panel in the trunk. Jim Drive your car. BodybyFisher Posted July 31, 2011 Report Share Posted July 31, 2011 I looked at my service manual and it is not clear whether the tank must be dropped, they only had an R&R for the level sensor and they speak about an access panel. When I look up the fuel level sensor I get this, I assume that the sender is attached to the pump? <li type="1">Remove the rear compartment trim panel. You are correct, I dont think anyone saw your statement, and then they including myself got confused when you said simply "wrong". I think we thought you were implying that the tank needed to be dropped. It had me so confused that i went to the manual to see it, and THEN I didnt even believe the manual. It would have been clearer if you said, NOPE not under the seat, as I noted above, you can access it from the trunk. Wrong sent me on a wild goose chase.
