Reasonable asking price for a 1988 DeVille?

Recommended Posts

I have recently been given the task of selling my grandmothers 4-door 1988 Cadillac DeVille. I won’t be keeping the car and I don’t want to get totally cheated when I sell it. The blue book value doesn’t go back to ’88 so I am not sure where to begin.

It has about 58,000 miles on it and only one owner. The car needs new tires, but not wheels. It doesn’t currently run, but I am almost certain that is from dead battery and bad gas. The car hasn’t been driven in 10+ years. An owner would need to put in some money, but I don’t think it’s a scrapper, either.

I’m asking here because I just can’t think of another place to get a fair evaluation, an idea of what I should be asking. It’s astonishing how many people think they can cheat little old ladies. What would be a reasonable value that I should be trying to get for this car?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The good - the mileage

The bad - sitting for 10 years

If it wasnt sitting for so long you might get 3000 tops. Its not a very sought after model which also hurts. Being it will take work to get running, maybe try to get 1500 I dont know. Doesnt hurt to start high and see if theres any interest at all.
