MAC
Wal-Mart sells MaxLife batteries. Unfortunately, there is no listing for my Eldorado. However, they list batteries for earlier and later model year Cadillacs’, including Eldorados’. I noticed my current battery has 925 cold cranking amps (CCA). The MaxLife battery I was looking to buy has 900 CCA. It looks like the MaxLife will fit, but I was not sure if there could be problems using a battery that is not specifically listed for my car. Is it wise to buy the MaxLife even though it is not specifically listed for my Eldorado?
Northstar
nope, but you can get a Delco battery at Kmart.

FlamingGoatBalls
You only need high CCA if you live in a cold area. That said I still go for the $120 dollar yellow top optima. I have NEVER had a problem with one of them. They also last muuuch longer.
calif phil
CCA differ by brands, used to be the standard was to measure the cca at -32 and now they measure them at 0 degrees or something like that. So really a 800 cca at -32 would be as good or better than a 1000 cca at 0 degrees. I think the wal-mart batteries are much more prone to outgassing and coroding the terminals. I would get a Delco or interstate.
Bronson
Delco batterys have been nothing but bad news for me. I've had problems with them in both of my Caddys. Optima red top is what I put in my STS this time. Delco three times before, all leaked acid from the positive terminal within 12 to 14 months. I would not buy a Delco battery. MAC
Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to check out the Optima even though I have never heard of that brand. I don't want to spend too much money. $120 seems a bit overpriced for a battery. How much longer will an Optima last? 7-8 years? Maybe I can find it for a bit cheaper. I was also thinking about a Delco, but I'm reconsidering after hearing about leaking positive terminals. The Wal-Mart MaxLife costs about 59.00 and is guaranteed for 3 years. Not too bad! Should last about 5 years? The bottom line is that I'm not looking to make a big deal out of buying a battery. However, I also don't want to buy junk either. adallak
DieHard for four and a half years. The car has never been garaged and winters are pretty cold in Pennstate. No problems whatsoever. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
Northstar
The new Delcos do not leak anymore. You can get one from a Delco parts house for around $
Bronson
Optima, free replacement for the first three years. It's refered to as a dry cell, nothing to leak. From what I have read on this site I would concider a Die Hard before going with a Delco!!!!
KHE
I have always had good luck with Delco batteries. They always go at least a year beyond the warranty period. JasonA
I'm really surprised Wal-Mart doesn't have a battery to fit your car. Any group 75 battery will work. Don't worry about the CCAs...just get at least 700 or so CCA (unless you live in a cold climate). I'm not sure what the OE battery is. There's a Delco Professional in my Seville now, but I'm not sure what the CCA rating is. It's been there for years...very trouble-free. an01sts
I buy GM wiper blades and Delco starters, plugs, and filters because they are the best. I would not, however, buya delco battery. They are junk, and it is shown because it has been stated that they live one year beyond thier warrenty. Sears Die Hard is the only battery I'll buy. I have 5 of them in my boat, and they are going on their 5th season, still strong as ever, and I don't see where they will be crapping out anytime soon. (These batteries, 4 cranking and 1 house battery, have a miserable life because they are stored all winter.) In my cars, I average 7 to 8 years on Die Hards. I'd like to see a Delco go that long! KHE
Actually, my last Delco in my Fleetwood Brougham (the original battery) lasted almost 8-1/2 years. I replaced it with a Delco Professional series battery and so far, no problems. Die Hards are good batteries - I won't argue that. Scotty
I actually like Delco batteries and have had good luck with them, I think their quality if very good. Personally if they last the prescribed warranty period that is all I can ask for and all they are required to do. If they don't last the warranty period that's a different story. I usually look to replace a battery when the warranty period of over, why chance fate, planned obsolescence is pretty accurate. I think it's the luck of the draw, as I like Die Hards also but I have seen them die before their warranty and have taken back a few with dead cells. That's why they warranty them
JimD
..... In my cars, I average 7 to 8 years on Die Hards. I'd like to see a Delco go that long! My car was manufactured in February, 1998, and the original battery is still tucked safely under the rear seat and faithfully spins the engine every time I ask. Jim Drive your car. Ranger
This "argument" may be all for naught. Here is some food for thought that I am sure will generate much more discussion. Many many moons ago I was told that there are only 2 battery manufacturers in the country making the label irrelavant. I have no idea if this is true but I am quite sure Sears does not manufacture any batteries. Anyone have any facts?
Bronson
Battery life depends on a lot of things including operating tempertures, duty cycle, etc.... All I can refer to is my past experiences with the Delco batteries, and it has not been good. In these climate conditions the life expectancy of any battery is limited however the Delco has been the worst, and the acid leaks become expensive. Scotty! Absolutely! Why have you go off to AutoBone? If you come back in fifty months, Sears owes you equivelant of 10 months on a 60 Month Battery! Great! Now how do you think Sears should calculate what they owe you? It doesn't matter that you bought the battery on a special bargain, on sale, or during Sears 'DieHard Days', (you get the idea), for $42.00. When I worked there, we would take the price you paid and divide by 60, then multiply by the ten months we owe you; ($42.00 / 60 = .70 x 10 = A GRAND TOTAL of $7.00 US Dollars!) Now the Replacement battery is, 50 months later, $66.99. Your credit of $7.00 gets you back down to $59.99 plus tax! And hey, you didn't have to go to AutoBone for their $48.00 special battery! That warranty sure works out good - for SEARS! all the way to the bank! Scotty, you asked!
