kureigu3
I was wondering if anyone experienced this problem. Durring random times my 95 Eldo (4.6 Northstar) would start to run rough and show a P119 code (Bad or open fuel injector). I first tried to replace the FPR. Then I replaced the injector hareness. Nothing changed. Today I replaced all 8 injectors with remanufactured injectors and the motor ran perfectly. On the way home from work (about 20 miles since the injector swap) the motor started to run very rough with grey smoke coming from the exhaust and a very strong fuel smell. It is also hard to start to motor... Could this be one injector that is stuck open? There are no current codes. Durring the install I did crack a couple vacuum lines but I repaired them. Could a blocked vacuum line cause this problem? My next move it to pull the plugs a look for a wet plug/cylinder (as soon as I get a longer 3/8 extention). What if all of the plugs are wet? What would cause this? As always, assistance greatly appreciated. Craig
BodybyFisher
Any other codes? Did the P0119 go away? It sounds like it is staying in open loop Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
kureigu3
All codes are history. Eng light came on but codes are still clear. She's just running super rich, smokes, and smells like fuel from the exhaust.. I'm pretty sure I got 1 injector dumping fuel. But it's odd that she is hard starting now. It kind of implies that all cylinders are rich. Gotta pull the plugs and see how they look.. She ran fine right after the swap. Then suddenly she started to run rich on the drive home. I drove her two more times after. No change.
BodybyFisher
The engine light flashing indicates a misfire. What are the history codes?, post them Pull the spark plugs check gaps, torque, check for spark, check coils, check ignition wires for solid connection and check their resistance, check for cracks in plugs and coils. Check for the ground at the ignition module to make sure its connected and tight Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ranger
Pull the fuel rail with the injectors still attached. Turn the key on to energize the fuel pump and pressurize the rail, but do not crank. Check for a leaky or opened injector.
kureigu3
Pull the fuel rail with the injectors still attached. Turn the key on to energize the fuel pump and pressurize the rail, but do not crank. Check for a leaky or opened injector. Ranger, I did that and spotted the #6 injector spraying about as hard as I can pee! I swapped #6 with one of the original injectors and everything was ok. I dumped at least a 1/3 of a tank of fuel in that cylinder so an oil change is in order. Thank to all for the help! Craig
