CoupeDTS
I have a 99 seville sts. Im more used to w body cars so these are new, my questions are prob simple. I removed the metal screen in the intake the other day and ever since the ses light has been on. I did unplug a sensor prob AIT in the intake and hook it back up. Do i just need to clear the ses light, and how? Ive seen by searching through posts that you can display codes by doing something. How, and is there a list of the codes on a web page or something? adallak
after you find and wright done the codes I would suggest clearing them to see whether they will come back this procedure will give idea how it may be done: History codes will self erase if the problem does not reoccur in 50 starts of the car. To erase regular codes: Using your dash panel enter diagnostics by pressing "Off" and "Warmer" buttons at the same time. Hold both buttons down until the whole dash panel lights up. This is called a segment check. The display will cycle automatically displaying any stored trouble codes. Be patient and wait until it will ask, "PCM?" You need to answer yes to this question. You do that by pressing the "Hi" part of the fan rocker switch. It acts as a yes/no switch when in the diagnostics mode of operation. The display will ask "PCM data?" Answer no by pushing "LO" The display will ask "PCM Inputs" Answer no. The display will ask "PCM Outputs" Answer no. The display will ask "PCM Overrides" Answer no. The display will ask "PCM Clear Codes" Answer yes by pushing "Hi" The display will confirm the deletion of the codes. You now need to escape from diagnostics. Simply turning off the ignition will accomplish that. You may also press "Auto" or "Defog" On my car I have a "Reset" which works too. The "screen" you removed is actually an air flow straightener. It is not restrictive at all and about the only thing you acomplished is giving the MAF sensor a false reading. My money is on a MAF sensor fault code P1101, P1211 or P1212.
CoupeDTS
ok figured it out, 98 and 99s are different u have to hold on/off button and info up button to get reading. Some history codes but only two current and they were something with the seat, i cleared it and no codes now. Ranger
Well, guess I lost that bet but you should do a search for MAF sensor or MAF screen or TB screen or somthing like that. Bbobynski once explained it in more detail than I did or could. Removing it may be more detrimental than helpful. BTW, I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking if the codes were the same for '98 & '99.
