What Should I Look For (WHEELS) 6x5.5?

I'm a little confused on the bolt patterns offset/whatever.. I don't know much about wheels.. all i know is i'm looking for FWD wheels that will fit my 97 Eldorado ETC.. But not too many people list the wheels with FWD. So I figure searching for bolt patterns would be easier. 6x5.5 is the presumed bolt pattern? Will all 6x5.5 bolt patterns fit? Thanks!

5x115mm is the correct bolt pattern. 5x4.5" is not the same as 5x115. Some Japanese makes actually do use 5x4.5" (which is really 5x114.3mm I think), but GM has used 5x115mm for a while on their FWD chassis.

Yes, you need to take the wheel offset into account also, although I'm sure all FWD wheels are similar. FWD wheels tend to have a lot of positive offset. RWD wheels tend to have less offset...sometimes even or even sometimes negative. You probably need something with about 50-80mm positive offset, but that's just a pure guess. I'm not sure what the stock offset is.

Not being in a situation to measure right now, let me ask, how is the 115mm measured? Is it from lugbolt to lugbolt (on-center) around the circumference of the pattern, or is it measured accross the center between bolts?

thanks

Stan, if you draw a circle through the center of the bolt holes, the 115mm is the diameter of that imaginary circle. Kind of hard to measure in the field. If you have a 4-lug or 6-lug wheel, you could measure the distance between two opposing holes, but since these are 5-lug wheels, two opposing holes are not quite going to be 115mm away from each other.
