MEMPHIS10CADILLAC
alright im back again and it seems my caddy wanna start acting up on me once again..ok 3days ago i was drivin and i stopped at the gas station and put some gas in it..so about 30mins later im sitting in the driveway of my friends fathers house and i had the a/c going and the car jus starts shaking and it dies..now im like hmmm i know i need a mass air flow sensor is this the case, but it have cut off on me couple times before when i turn the wheel really hard and i still dnt know what that problem is either but when it died i tried cranking it back up it was just turning over.so after a couple attempts it cranks up but missing real bad,by this time my friends looking like oh no not in this heat lol..it never done this before.so i put it in reverse and put it in drive about to take off and it has nooo pressure whats so ever, its running but i got my feet on the gas and its gettn nowhere dies again..so after i got it cranked again it ran fine for 15mins..it seems evrytime i come to a light it starts dying then i have to sit and crank it back up...like the last time it happen it started to take off on its on..i didnt have my feet on the gas it was rolling by itself..and my air started blowing warm while it was running..so help me out on this cause i really hate 2 get rid of this cadillac after all i put into it..somebody told me the fuel pump mite be going out and losing its prime..keywords:CRANKS FINE,DRIVE FOR 30MINS,DIES OUT,8 ATTEMPTS TO START,AFTER A DAY OF SITTING IT CRANKS FINE...i think once that fuel pump gets heated its starts givin probs, wat do you think?? thanks
BodybyFisher
First thing you need to do is check for codes. Do you know how to check for codes?, you do not need a code scanner, your car has the ability to give you the codes, go to caddyinfo, go to how to, go to DTC codes and follow the directions for your year and model, have a pencil and paper ready and write down what you see, if you miss one do it again This is not likely a fuel pump, as a fuel pump would act up all the time, but yes, check your fuel pressure. Buy a gage at sears and attach it to the fuel rail's schrader valve and report the pressures to us at KEY ON engine off, and with it idling Yoiur problem sounds more like a bad crank sensor but check for codes It could also be a dirty throttle body and IAC valve, when did you clean your throttle body, throttle plate and IAC valve last? CoupeDTS
sounds like it needs alot of cleaning and tuneup parts along with some new sensors or idle control. Are you capable of doing all this maintenance? Your car is pretty old and needs alot of maintenance to be in top shape. If you cannot do everything yourself it is going to cost alot of money to maintain a cadillac through repair shop bills. Things like plugs, wires, filters, cleaning sensors and parts, replacing sensors all over the car, etc etc it all needs to be done, a car cant just keep going forever without maintenance. * 1966 Deville Convertible * 2007 Escalade ESV Black on Black * 1996 Fleetwood Brougham Black on Black V4P -Gone* 1983 Coupe Deville Street/Show Lowrider -Gone* 1970 Calais 4dr Hardtop GONE* 2000 Deville DTS - Silver with Black Leather and SE grille GONE* 1999 Seville STS - Pearl Red GONE
