xyxuhy Posted June 2, 2011 Report Share Posted June 2, 2011 Hello, Anyone know why this would happen? It's happens only once in a while but is annoying. Ill shut the car off, but the key will stay in the accesory slot - I cant turn it to the off position allowing me to pull the key out. It will eventually come out (turn to the off position) but I have to cycle the shifter from park through to drive and back. Sometimes I'll do this once and it works, other times I'm sitting there for 10 minutes. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Bruce Nunnally Posted June 2, 2011 Report Share Posted June 2, 2011 The PRNDL switch under the shifter signals to the car that you have placed the shifter in park and it is safe to allow the car to be turned off. Turning off the car locks the steering wheel, so not something we want while moving. If the switch goes bad then it is time to change it and your symptoms sound like it needs replacement.
