stsbank
Well its hot in town and I'm getting "low side pressure sensor" code. I don't know where on the system it is or what it looks like. Can this be done in the driveway or is it better left to a professional? Thank you for your time.

Cadillac Jim
It's an indication that something is wrong with one of the sensors on the A/C. What you're reporting is a message, not a code. To read your codes, on the A/C console, press <OFF> and <PASS WARMER> at the same time for about 5 seconds, then watch the instrument displays. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. joeb
my used compressor leaks. i had that short hose with #4 sensor off the car last fall. so no freon in system. today i turned on a/c and got no codes. i did not look under hood to see if clutch was engaging. i assume it is not. i ran thru acm codes while driving and system said no acm codes. i know a/c should not work, clutch should not engage and yet i get no codes saying anything is wrong. and no cold air of course. joeb
suppose you wonder if sensor can be replaced without removing freon. i do not know that. i set my vent controls to defrost/floor but never push in the auto button. if i do, the a/c compressor will try to start to dehumidify air. since i have low freon, i will get a code right away saying a/c is off, low system pressure if i recall. anyway, right now i have no codes. no P codes or ac codes. which is normal for my car. rockfangd
the low side pressure sensor screws onto the line. The system will need to be evacuated to change the sensor. But before you touch anything you need to check the electrical connection at the sensor. unplug and plug it back in a few times, check the plug, and reset the code(s) if any exist.
