druhl
This is a on going problem and I still haven't been able to correct it. I am trying to get an emissions test which is required by the great state of Pennsyvania . Starting this year the garage has to connect to the OBDII port and connect to the cars computer. It will not pass the emissions test because I have 3 monitoring statuses- incomplete. The Catalyst monitoring status , O2 sensor heater monitoring status and 02 sensor monitor status are all incomplete and will not complete. It appears I have some problem that will not let the monitors complete there tests. The system is running in closed loop and the oxygen sensors seem to be working find from the voltage readings I am getting. I do not get the MIL or any codes. Please help if you know what is wrong. PS. Could it be the heater is not working on one or more of the 02 sensors? If it was not heating then wouldn't I get a code?
Logan
No codes? Most states will allow a couple of the readiness monitors to slide and pass the car. If they dont allow any....boy, your screwed. Very hard to get 200 readiness moniters to display 'OK' in the computer. It may require a battery reset, and a 5 day agressive driving pattern to get all the monitors to show OK. JasonA
I would unplug the battery overnight and let the system completely reset. Then take it to the emissions center after a THOROUGH warm-up, if possible. It sounds like what you might have guessed -- maybe the heating circuit is out on one or more of the sensors, and they're not providing any readings to the computer after it sets and cools down while waiting for the test? Hard to say on that one. In North Carolina, you can have up to two readiness indicators off and they'll still run the test. druhl
In Pennsylvania they do allow 2 readiness sensors to be unready but I have 3, the catalyst and the two oxygen sensor monitors. I think I have finally figured out my problem though , after having been fighting with it for a month now. I bought the Autotap scantool program and after connecting it to both my OBDII cars I think the catalatic converter in shot on the STS. That is why the catalyst readiness monitor is not ready. The car has 170,000 miles on it now. Does anyone know how long the catalatic converter should last ? Anyway all 4 oxygen sensors seam to be working fine but the converter isn't working. thanks for everyones help.
