You press <Off> and <Pass Warmer> simultaneously for about 5 seconds...

I don't have a digital dashboard myself but I do remember that the only difference in getting started is the exact name of the passenger side temperature "warmer' and "cooler" buttons. There are some other buttons that are used in operating the IPM computer in the diagnostic mode. Note that I have the analog speedometer/tach.

CADILLAC DIAGNOSTIC MODE BUTTONS ON THE A/C CONSOLE

Initiate: <Off> <Pass Warmer>; note <Pass Warmer> is the top of the rocker labeled Pass Temp on Analog Clusters

Escape: <OFF>; goes back one command, similar to the <Exc> key on computers

Yes/No: <Fan Up/Down>; use to skip or enter modules when they are displayed in sequence, or to answer Y/N questions

Cancel: Auto (press in the Temp knob), or press <Info Reset>, or turn off key; exits diagnostic mode

On entering the diagnostic mode, the IPM first turns on all dash segments and indicators except the MIL (which is ON when the key is on but the car hasn't been started). After a few seconds the IPM cycles through all the modules in the car (with possible exceptions of the door modules in the Deville models). at each module, it either displays the codes in sequence or says "NO XXX CODES" where XXX is the three-letter acronym for each module. Then, it starts the list over, but stops at each module. The first prompt is always "PCM?" <Fan Up> enters the prompts for the PCM module; <Fan Down> skips the PCM and goes to the IPM, etc.

Hint: When you enter a given module, such as to reset codes, press <OFF> to exit that module and go to the next module.

Hint: When you have a lot of codes on one module, enter it with <Fan Down>, select <Fan Up> for "Codes?", cycle through the other prompts with <Fan Down> to get back to "Codes?" again as many times as necessary to write down and verify that you have all the codes correctly, their CURRENT/HISTORY status, etc.
