jpjrfd
Hi Folks! Have my very first issue with my 2002 DeVille. Passenger front window will go down but not back up. Situation occurs with either the driver button ot the button on the door itself. No particular noises to report Any help as to what can be at issue here would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks!! rockfangd
First, when you try to raise the window do you hear the motor running? If you do My first guess is the regulator broke. I think they are a very poor design. If youu dont it may be the motor is bad. But I have yet to see a motor go out on the newer ones but the regulators are notorious GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile

I ordered a GM regulator w/motor feeling that since we are going to be "in there" may as well replace both. Got a good price on the parts ($98.00) and my guy is going to do the job for $50.00. Way better than dealer cost of $450.00 before tax etc. I honestly can't figure out how service departments stay in business these days! Anyway, thanks again. I really appreciate the folks on this site.
jpjrfd
Check wireing on driversidedoor. Thank you for taking time to reply. Going to check everything out once we are in there. As you noticed from my reply to another good soul I'm going to replace regulator and motor. May as well do it right! Thanks again, you're much appreciated. rockfangd
thats not bad at all. Honestly with these regulators, oem or aftermarket, they are exactly the same. Now the motor may be a little different. While you have the door apart have the original motor tested anyway as it is possibly still good. Please keep us posted on your results GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile

jpjrfd
How'd it go? Recieved the parts, look super. My guy has to install, hopefully this weekend. Will let all of you know the results when completed. As an aside, just picked up the wifes 2002 Avalon for an inspection. They replaced 45 day old Rainex Latitudes ( $18.36 apiece ) with 2 $7.00 pieces of crap. I called the shop and left them a nice message! This is why I hate auto shops whether they be dealers or private. I'll fill you in on that as well.

Norman L.
Over the last three years, I have had to replace three different window regulators in my 2001 Deville so am waiting for the fourth one to go now. Could be the 115 degree heat here in Arizona but the plastic parts that are part of the regulator's cable break. Even after replacing three of these, I really hate trying to pull the outside door panel off since I always break some of the plastic attachment devices (even with written instructions, a proper tool and trying to be careful). The local GM dealer wants four dollars for a package of two by the way.
jpjrfd
Hello Friends, Well folks,my mechanic did the motor/regulator fix today. No runs, no drips, no errors! Smooth as could be with no problems. We took our time and moved cautiously to avoid broken clips and so forth and the result was a perfectly successful repair. Parts, including shipping, $97.90. Window Motor World, Palm Coast, Florida.(these are the only parst they sell) Labor - $60.00 for a total cost of $157.90 Cadillac Dealer - $547 before tax etc. Saved a cool $390.00+ Gotta love it! Keep saying I don't know how service departments stay in business. Thanks to all who followed the thread. I'll keep in touch as issues come up. This is a great site with a lot of fine people on board!

tom.wiseman@windstream.net
All the info here is great, but my problem starts with getting the passenger door panel off. This is a 2000 sedan Deville. I've read so many different locations of the hidden screws (some engineer stayed awake all night), I'm now trying to find exactly where they are without destroying the door panel. The widow friend I'm doing this for can't afford the $525.00 the dealer wants to replace a $50.00 regulator. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!!
