GOOB
is there a special trick to installing the FPR? i personally didn't try it because i didn't have the time (okay, i'm lazy...and my wife won't let me touch it!) anyway, he said he could not get the new one to seat in the rail........... DFBonnett
Don't know about the 4.6 but on my 4.9 it was a bit hesitant to pop in. A bit of vaseline on the O ring did the job.
Bob D
Hmm…Who’s “He”? Anyway, are you sure you have the correct one for your year (’93)? Remember, 1993 and 1994 had an entirely different FPR than the later years, as it is located UNDER the engine cover, and has no hose going to it. Parts guys tend to miss that fine point, and will sometimes hand you a later model FPR, thinking they’re all the same. They're not. The correct GM part # for our years is:12570618. Given that, it should slide right down the fuel shaft (using the new o-ring and washer that comes with it) and bottom out with no problem. (I just replaced mine on my ‘93 ~6 months ago.) Make sure it's completely down all the way and compresses the o-ring slightly, or fuel will leak in large volumes and partially fill the intake valley resulting in rough running, and copious amounts of white smoke… '93 STS.. opened, dropped, wide...fast. GOOB
"he" is the mech...you guys are ruthless...gotta stay on my toes. anyway, i ordered the part from gmotors.com (brasington motors in gainsville, fla). after "the mech" told me it would not seat, i took the part to the local caddy dealer and to another local gm dealer and using my vin #, they both said i have the correct part number but they did not have one in stock for me to compare the two. guess i'll try one of these other parts stores. i just took a picture of it and saved it to my desktop. how do i post it here? DFBonnett
...... he said he could not get the new one to seat in the rail.......... Possible the O ring from the old FPR did not come out with it and is preventing the new one from seating? FWIW

It should work. Interesting though...Part#s from some reason do get superceded ocasionally, perhaps that has ocurred. '93 STS.. opened, dropped, wide...fast. GOOB
Possible the O ring from the old FPR did not come out with it and is preventing the new one from seating? FWIW didn't even think of that one...guess i just assumed "the mech" would think to do that. i'll try and catch them befor they close today and be there when he does it this time. Goob..If the O-ring didn't come up with the FPR (which is possible), the the washer which seats it didn't either, as it would be underneath it. That washer would be easy to miss as it is metallic and will rest on the base of the fuel pipe, blending in. That and/or the o-ring remaining would sure as heck cause a seating problem for the new FPR with both the new o-ring and washer installed. '93 STS.. opened, dropped, wide...fast.
