collington
I just recently changed the water pump on my 93 deville. I now notice that there is about three minor dents in the water pump pulley. Replaced the belt twice within 5,000 miles or maybe less, now i have a major leak under the car. I'm not sure where it could be coming from although i do know that when i put water in my car it leaks right back out. To prevent overheating i have to do this each time i decide to drive it. While driving there is a squeaking noise when accelerating, and the leaking of water, what could be causing this and what steps do i need to take to repair it? The potential trouble spots for leaks are: 1. Loose hose connections. 2. Cracked radiator side tanks (usually the inlet tan on the driver side). 3. Heater valve - a plastic TEE on top of the engine. 4. Water pump. For some reason, as soon as one replaces the original pump, one keeps replacing them regularly. I have got new water pump and extra gasket. Bought for my 1991 Seville, but th epump never failed in 175,000 miles! I can send it to you. You only pay actual S&H costs. 5. Rusted heater pipe. You have a massive leak, so it is much easier to locate. I would open the hood, start engine, rev the engine manually by lifting up throttle lever and watch carefully around to see where it is leaking from. Increased RPM will increase the pressure in the system . The squeaking noise can be unrelated. A bad serpentine belt tensioner? The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
