Bruce Nunnally
Made an appointment to test drive this one after lunch: http://www.sewell.com/web/used/Cadillac-CTS-V-2009-Dallas-TX/775214/?condition_id=10426 Lowest I see on cars.com are asking under $45K now, so will likely settle a few K less, and have fewer miles. So this one is too high at 50K, but I want to let them turn down an offer before I travel for one. My 05 CTS will go up for sale; still has 3 months of extended GM warranty which should help. Bruce Nunnally
We'll see; the 09 CTS-Vs have just gotten below $45K on the low end, but this one still has an 'old' asking price. The 08 STS-V is near the min-30s so that may end up being my target instead, but no harm in talking about the CTS-V. Bruce Nunnally
No luck negotiating on the 2009 CTS-V; they are asking $50,777 and we were not able to get to the range of the lowest priced 09 Vs on cars.com. I am shifting back to see if I can grab up an STS-V I see here in Texas, but it will mean compromising on 469 hp instead of 556 hp, albeit at $10-15K lower price. ted tcb
lol couldn't reach agreement on the STS-V either; got to within 1k but back to shopping. Bruce, I notice that STS was silver. Have you expanded your search from red to including other colors? How did the STS V driving experience compare with the more powerful CTS v? 1989 FWD Fleetwood, Silver 1995 STS Crimson Pearl on Black leather 1997 STS Diamond White 1999 STS Crimson Pearl 2001 STS Silver 2003 STS, Crimson Pearl
Bruce Nunnally
The CTS-V seems shockingly fast. The STS-V seems like a quicker version of the STS. The STS-V has different features, such as HUD, lane change, and blindspot alert that the CTS family does not get. The CTS-V get the magnetic suspension that was not ready for sport mode in 2006 when the STS-V was released, and of course that LSA Supercharged 6.2L V8 with 556 hp. I was shopping only for a red 2010 CTS Premium. Now I am looking at either an 08 STS-V or 09 CTS-V, color TBD. Bruce Nunnally
Hmm would you rather have: 2009 STS-V in Black with Tango Red http://www.usavehiclefinder.com/Used/2009_Cadillac_STS_V_4dr_Sdn_BLACK_ICE/Newark_DE/LISTING-9297788/VehicleDetails.aspx which is a Nissan dealer; Priced at $39.9K with 16,955 miles. Or this lovely 2009 CTS-V also in black with 12k miles for $44,977 at a Cadillac dealer. It is noted as a buy-back car: Neither price appears to be negotiable. I know, everything is negotiable, but just repeating what they are telling me. joeb
only 1k apart? must come down to pride. i watch car auctions on tv. you see a guy bid 750k on a ferrari and stop bidding and the next guy gets it for 760k? whats 10k when you already were willing to bid 750k? but than the other guy would bid 770K and when will it stop? Bruce Nunnally
Sometimes you know how much you want to pay (and no more) and the Dealer knows how much he wants to sell (and no less) and there is a gap. Other times it is all part of the negotiation -- to see who can let it go for $1K more or less and who calls back to close the gap. I love the story of that STS-V but if I can't get it for $10K under a CTS-V then I'd rather get the CTS-V. Bruce Nunnally
I have been very surprised that all the Sellers have pretty much claimed that their offer price was also their bottom line or near. Now, I do tend to shop for the least expensive offer prices, so that may influence. Bruce Nunnally
Watching THIS 09 CTS-V on ebay from an individual: For sale is my 2009 V. The car was purchased new from the dealer with the extended warranty to 100K miles. The fine automobile is in perfect shape with no dings, dents or paintwork. Car is equipped with all options except the Recaro Seats that are in some of the V's. The car has been garaged kept and never driven in the rain. The interior has never been dirty or smoked in. Still smells new. Would be glad to answer any questions It didn't meet reserve at the last ebay offering; we'll see how it does this time. I like that it has the ext warranty. Buyitnow set at $48K, and the Reserve may be close to that as well. Cadillac is offering to pay up to $500 each for the first 3 payments on a CPO Cadillac. I sent a note to the STS-V that we were $1K apart on to see if we can use that to close the gap. Something like put a down-payment of $34.5K and pay out $1500 in 3 payments? Chatted with a Seller about an 09 STS-V in NJ with a custom Gibson exhaust. They want $40K for it, but just too close to the $45-46K on the bottom end of the 09 CTS-V market right now. Also it will cost me time & money to run up to NJ to grab it. I think if I can't get the 08 STS-V then I will concentrate on watching for a deal on an 09 CTS-V. They won't be going up in price from here, especially with gas prices up. Bruce Nunnally
The CPO 3 payments deal is up to $500 a payment for the first 3 payments, but requires that you borrow -- so you have payments -- and the minimum loan value quoted was $7K. Hmm, a $7K loan for 12 months at 1.9%? interest would be $133; maybe there is a way to borrow the money, accept the $500 per 3 months, payoff the balance in month 4. That would still be $1K+ off the CPO price. Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube

coolnesss
Bruce, if there's no prepayment penalty on the loan, you can just pay it off after the three payments are made. This sounds like a no-lose situation for you. Be sure and read the loan document carefully. The CPO 3 payments deal is up to $500 a payment for the first 3 payments, but requires that you borrow -- so you have payments -- and the minimum loan value quoted was $7K. Bruce Nunnally
Thanks guys; I sent a note back to confirm the details. We are discussing a 2008 Cadillac STS-V, CPO, 1 owner, 17K miles. If I have the numbers right, I can borrow the last $7K for 12 mo at 1.9% interest and get the Cadillac $500/mo kick-in at a cost of $133 even if the loan ran to term, or effectively $1,367 off the price. I sent all my notes to the dealer to see if they confirm. If so I may be able to run down and pickup on Saturday. Bruce Nunnally
Thanks. I would like the 09 CTS-V but was 'supposed' to spend enough get the 2010 CTS 3.6L Premium and was having a lot of issues with spending the more money to swing the CTS-V. This way I get a V-Series model, HUD, Lane change, Blindspot, Brembo Brakes, 469 hp at the cost of a used CTS. I think that's win.
