truprayaz
So I was driving down the road noticed my car was acting up.....eventually it wouldn't go and just revved....I let off the gas and was able to get home.....across the screen it stated service transmission and check omission control.....i ran the codes and got pc0101, pc0717, pc1599.....later after clearing those codes i got pc0756!! I'm freaking out my caddy is stuck in first and won't switch gears....we're changing the tranny fluid, filter, and i was told to change the tranny solenoid too....but there are too side by side....how do I know which one to change....do you think this will help cuz I can't afford a new tranny and I LOVE my CADDY!!! Be sure that if your car is so affected, to get the GM kit with the bracket that holds the filter in place. This is not a hard job, just take pictures of where the check balls go in the valve body. stsevillests
My Seville wouldn't shift out of 1st gear 2 times but wasn't showing any codes,,turned out the positive battery cable was not tight, the bolt was tight but you could turn the cables with your hand. I put a star washer behind it and that worked for quite awhile. Then many months later it wouldn't turn over, no lights on dash, nothing, it was loose again. I bought this battery adapter bolt from Advanced Auto, (don't know the name of it) it holds the 1 positive cable on like the extended bolt but on the end it has a nut to tighten the 2nd one on. You can get them both tighter this way. I can show a picture if anyone is interested. Like I said I didn't have codes showing but may be worth a look. Because these adapters designed for a bigger wrench, make sure you do not overtighten them. You can unintentionally turn the threaded steel insert pressed into lead. If that happens, bad electric contact will eventually make lead melt. When you connect battery cables use two wrenches. I couldnt agree more. why they are so big I have no idea, but I use them on almost every GM I work on GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile
KHE
I would change the TCC solenoid too while I was looking at it. Completely different and unrelated job - the side pan needs to come off to access the TCC which requires transmission removal or lowering on one side like BBF & Logan did. The shift solenoids are replacable with the trans in the car - drop the lower pan, and valve body to access solenoids.
