The numbers and meaning of codes does not change dramatically from year to year. Tell us your "P" codes.

Resetting a code that turns on the MIL doesn't fix the condition nor will it let your car pass emissions testing. If the code is CURRENT, the problem that is detected is ongoing, or has been detected since you last started the car.

Most OBD codes on older cars are due to simple things like an old air cleaner, a vacuum leak, or a connector off a sensor. Run your codes and post them here and we can probably help you find a *real* solution to the MIL turning on.

P0385 - Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor B Circuit

A common enough failure in certain years of Northstar engines (GM changed parts vendors for later years).

The recommendation is to replace BOTH cranksaft position sensors when one of them fails.

FWIW the attached file has not failed to identify any OBDII code that I have seen reported. Download the file and find a place for it on your computer. When opened with NotePad, the file is searchable.

Look at my avatar and signature photos. They were taken with a Canon T-90 (circa 1986) on Kodacolor Gold 100 using old Canon manual focus lenses.
