Telescopic Steering Wheel

My local Audi dealer had an October Fest the other day, and I popped in for a free t-shirt and some brauts...

I sat in a 2005 A8 and a 2005 A6 (325 HP).... They have POWER tilt and telescopic steering wheels? I seriously miss telescopic steering wheels from the old days. Do any new Cadillacs have this feature again, since they developed this feature long before anyone else? Being 6'5" this feature is nice!

By the way the Audi's have very nice finishes, it was hard not to notice even as bias as I am toward Cadillac

Xcotty: Automatic Tilt & Telescope Steering Wheel became available in 1998 and it's still available on the 2005. You can set it wherever you want it and it will move to that position when you turn the ignition key. It will return to a pre-set exit position of your choice when you open the door after turning off the ignition.

When I first got my 2000, the wheel would move to a different place nearly every time when I turned the key. I took it back to the dealer three or four times. We couldn't duplicate it in the dealership but they changed the module twice.

Imagine my chagrin when I found that the wheel stops moving when you put the car into gear. I have a tendency to do things rather quickly and I was turning the key and grabbing the gear shift in one motion!

I had to go back and confess. They told me recently that my "confession" has saved them a lot of problems in the years since.

I am so happy that they have this feature again. A couple of years ago I complained that they discontinued it and no one mentioned that it was brought back in 1998.

I am also happy to see that Cadillac reintroduced it, and that the AUDI I sat in didnt have anything OVER the Caddy.....

I am surprised that the 2004 I rented in Florida didn't have it unless I didnt notice, Thanks for the info, everyone

I do think the range of movement could be extended a little. The tilt is somewhat limited...the telescopic a little less so. This of course is more appropriate to the exit position. In other words, the range is quite adequate for driving, but could swing up a little more on exit. I know, I'm a nit-picker!

Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.

My wife test drove a 2004 SRX and it has the electronic tilt / telescopic steering wheel as well as adjustable pedals.
