olegert
hi i have installed 2 new pressure switches & light & bell remain on. my shop says they cannot mechanically test for pressure because of location of oil filter. i am not hearing any noises indicative of no oil. wires to switch are ok. any sugestions would be greatly appreciated. thanx for reading this. olegert. BodybyFisher
First check for any DTC codes that might be set Then you need to determine if you do or do not have oil pressure. There is a port on the oil filter adapter, you need to get the proper fitting and connect an analog gage on the engine to see if you have pressure. Your shop is wrong I believe. There HAS to be a port to test for oil pressure. This will eliminate a potential electrical problem, when you determine whether or not you have oil pressure. If there is NO pressure, it is possible that the pressure relief valve is open and we have a procedure that can/should fix that. What oil are you using? Viscosity and type, synthetic or dino? Has any work been done that required the crank pulley to be removed?, the oil pump is behind the crank and the crank bolt torque is what causes the oil pump drive to turn. What brand of oil filter are you using, oil filters have a by pass on them and some have stated that they get low oil pressure by some filters, I kind of doubt this, the filter will by pass and NOT FILTER but it won't drop pressure Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

BodybyFisher
hi thanx for the info have ac delco part in hand. will report preogress. ole gert What AC DELCO part, the oil filter? This is NOT likely the oil filters fault It would help if you answered the rest of my questions above Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

BodybyFisher
I may have spoken too soon, this no oil pressure 'fix or work around" for clearing the pressure relief valve and priming the oil pump appears to be only for the 93 to 95 model years, but you should check out this thread out anyway. If anyone knows if this "fix" can solve the NO OIL PRESSURE problem in later models please let this member know. See this thread for the NO OIL PRESSURE 'fix' http://caddyinfo.ipb...h=1entry10283 If this does not work, tell your mechanic to make sure the crank bolt it torqued to spec, otherwise the oil pump drive can slip. It is GOOD news that you are NOT hearing any chatter from the engine, maybe its just an electrical problem. DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CHECK FOR YOUR TROUBLE CODES?, you dont need a scanner, do you know?, have you checked? Tell us what happened, did you use an aftermarket pressure switch, your first post said it was changed twice? It is a switch, not a sender. It turns on at 5 psi.
