I hope someone chimes in on the pulley puller, I am not sure if its a special puller that you need. With the correct tool it will come right off, do not hammer it back on you can damage the cam, use the installer Are you replacing the spark plug port seals also? 98caddydevile
i had oil inside of were you put the plugs and i belive that the leak is just on the spark plug seals and i think the oil is shorting out plug 5 and 6 because the booth are full of oil and since im already taing the valve covers off i am going to replace all of the seals. i have new plugs gaskets and wires (hopeing i dont have to get a new distributer)bought the car from an old man who owns apratment complexs and after he smashed the front end in his family wanted to get him a smaller car only needed a fender bumper cover light assyemble booth headlight and marker light and then the hood got dented and i banged it out and im gonna fill in what i cant get out with bondo... Thank you for your imput im still young and learning If you have a Northstar, you dont have a distributor. Unless you are leaking excessively, that oil in the spark plug ports/holes should not be a problem, clear it out, dry off the boots, and drive it, but it sounds like you have it almost off, dont bother with the rear cover, just drain/blow the oil out, dry the holes and replace the plugs. The REAR cover is a rough job. You may find bad plugs on 5 and 6. Is it missing? Welcome aboard. 98caddydevile
i woi work at a salvage yard so i got the fender but the car we had only had a fender and air bags. both 5/6 are missing and its a coil pack isnt it? i thought distributer and coil were one in the same but i could be wrong. and it seams like all of the plugs have had oil in them and the under the valve cover towards the front of the motor it seams like its leaking which is why i decided to get gaskets i just replaced the plugs an thats how i discoverd it was leacking. i put a timing light on all the wires to see which ones were missing. and im gonna replace the rear valve cover just to be safe and the fact i have no were to put the new for it
Ranger
DO NOT use a 3 pronged puller on that water pump drive pulley. You can use a P/S pump pulley puller. Anything else will destroy it.

rockfangd
there are 4 coil packs, if you look at the coil packs you will see the numbers that pertain to the cylinder that they fire, I dont think 5 and 6 are on the same coil pack.with good plugs and wires a sligh oil leak in the plug valleys shouldnt be a problem, It actually seems to be a very common problem GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile
98caddydevile
5 and 6 are not on the same coil pack and the front valve cover has a leak out of the front side so im hopping the asket stops that to
J_Lac
Same problemhere .. am planning on changing the ValveCover Gasket because I can see with the naked eye that its wet with oil.. Any special instructions or easy steps to get to it? And if I change the gaskets by the Coil Packs will I have to change the one by the raidators(closer to the front of car)?
