an01sts
Hey guys! I just found this board, so I thought, "What the heck! I'll sign up for the program." Frist of all, I hope the people aren't spell checks around here. It irritates the heck out of me, and although I cannot spell, when critisized about spelling, I can shift into a major serious English-teacher mode. Anyway, I assume that everyone here is beyond such childish actions. A little about my Cadillac background: Part of my automotive repair career involved being a Cadillac technician for a total of about 2 & 1/2 years, at a Dallas dealership, Sewell Village Cadillac. There, I fell in love with the Seville. The owner started selling the Lexus, and people ranted and raved about the LS 400 being a far superior car. I worked on both cars and test drove both cars on a regular basis. There is no comparison: The Lexus looks like a Toyota, smells like a Toyota, and drives like a Toyota. The Seville? It drove like a Cadillac, and its performance beat the dog crap out of the Japanese burner. About a decade later in life, I bought a new Polo Green 99 STS, and as a 911 gift to the country and me, I bought an 01, Crimsom Pearl STS on 9/26/01. Before I bought the 01, I looked at the Crovette--at least I tried to look at a Vette. But the a$$holes at the cheby house cannot fathom the concept of baseline customer respect. I'll spare you the story about idiots at the chebby house and just say that I've never been that impressed with the Vett. Ima GM man but, simply, I don't like Chebbies and I have never like them. (By the way, unless the Cramaro guys are feeling sorry for me--cutting me a major break--there isn't a new chebby that beat the STS. The Vette? I don't know. I do know that they won't take the bait if I square off with them. I assume that they probally could, but the thing is that perhaps they worry that the STS may give them a good run, or worse, beat them! In other words, if you don't accept the challenge, you don't have to worry about loseing--huh?) I also have a 69 Friebird, and it's a factory 400 car. Despite the fact that PHS honors dealer invoice as factory (dealer invoice isn't factory; rather, it's the final product that is delivered to the customer) most 69 400 hardtops are not factory and were new-car make ready products, delivered as 400 cars on dealer invoice. There is no way to tell how many factory 400 cars were built, but it's been a best guess that the number is less than 10,000. The thing is that when I got the 99 STS, I lost all interest in the Firedog. I have no plans on getting rid of the dog, but it's hard to hop in that peice of crap after driving the STS. I've heard lots of people potty mouth the car. I say, "Have you ever driven one? Have you even rode in one?" It shuts them up quick because they shouldn't be talking about subjects of which they know nothing about. Anyone who has ridden in my car--or on the extreme rare occasion that they take the wheel--they are impressed as to its roadworthyness. Even a 7 year old girl who had been riding in an Escort said, "Wow! This IS a nice car," as I slowly pulled away. One more, and I'm out of here for the night. I found this board because I the STS's clock hit 50k a short while ago. That means that it is time to consider performance upgrades. The Corsa exaust upgrade looks promising, and it was a link from that page that brought me here. I'm not interested in suspension/brake upgrades because the car has more a$$bone in those departments than I have courage. I can, however, handle all the 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds I can find, so please tell me about your emission legal performance upgrades.
Regis
Welcome to the board! The Corsa exhaust seems to be a hot ticket. MarksSTS I believe has it on his and he also has a rather quick 1/4 mile track time. Bbobynski had some advice for a significant hp upgrade and perhaps he'll chime in as well. Might want to search the archives and post a HP upgrade question on the board. Once again welcome to the board. -kg "Burns" rubber " I've never considered myself to be all that conservative, but it seems the more liberal some people get the more conservative I become. juruiz
Welcom to the board, I have a Black '99 STS here in Puerto Rico and I LOVE mine too. I have had it for 2 1/2 years. Welcom again and have fun.
Marika
Welcome to the board and if you have any beauty questions regarding your caddy, just ask. I'm usually the person that will answer you as well as other very experienced folks here on this site. We're all a great crowd here. If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

MARK 99STS
Welcome to the board. The best things you can do regarding upgrades is open up the exhaust and intake and for more out of the hole pull, get a high stall torque converter. Willie Hank
Welcome to the board... P.S.: You're spelling really does "suck". Obviously you're not married to an "English" teacher like I am.
Willie Hank
I was trying to be funny in my earlier reply and forget to add what a GREAT site this is for people that want to understand the NS and how to repair it. It has a lot of GREAT information and I have to take my hat off to all the "hardcore" people on this board who have no other motive than to to try to help a stranger out with their expereinces/knowledge. an01sts
Yeah guys, this is an incredible site. So far, my car has been reliable. I had some bs things wrong with it, covered under warrenty. As far as mechanical goes, it has never let me down. I can see that this board has in incredible wealth of information. I know a lot of old school technology, but I'm at a loss with newer technology. Give me some time to get some pictures, and if I can figure out how, I'll get some pictures up.
