d*n*c13
I recently bought a used '03 Cadillac CTS and I have already encountered several problems going on with it. One thing is an oil leak inside the hood. There's kinda dried up oil on the engine and other parts around. How can I go about fixing this? Or around how much would it cost to take it to get fixed? Also, the thermostat needs to be changed and I don't have the money to take it to a mechanic. Can anybody give me step-by-step DIY instructions (w/pics if possible)? The check engine light is on, too. I took it to AutoZone to see what could be going on..and they referred me to an auto repair shop (which like i said, I don't have the money for). Bruce Nunnally
The first thing you need to cultivate is a friend who is a mechanic. Alternately, find a mechanic you can trust. oil leak under the hood: Clean the engine off, then monitor to determine exactly WHERE the oil is leaking Thermostat: you need a helms shop manual. Although you can purchase them new from helmsinc.com for around $150, you can also frequently find one on ebay for much less. Check Engine light: I am surprised that Autozone would not read the codes for you. However, I believe that the 2003 uniquely of the CTS family has onboard diagnostics. from : http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html 2003 CTS:For the 2003 CTS Non-Nav, turn on the ignition without starting the car. Push in the F1 and the F6 function keys on the radio at the same time. For the 2003 CTS with Nav, Press the BAND button and the bottom NAV button to the left of the display, then release.
