tanjachris
If your are expierencing starting problems after fueling and have the purge fault code with your check engine light on, this might help. I ordered a new purge valve from the local parts house, it was the wrong part. my curiosity overtook me, i removed the valve from the car, i could blow through it, looking inside i could see a gummy residue, i believe it was the buildup of synthetic oil vapors. I cleaned the valve with some degreaser and with a slight bump the diaphram shut preventing me from blowing through it. Installed it back on the car, success. Here is an easy way to tell if the valve is working, with the car running take the gas cap off and listen to the port, if you hear a steady vacuum, the valve is stuck open, if you hear a bubble blower, the valve is pulsing and working.
