chriskoc1
I have a 93 Seville 4.9 and when I accelerate there is a creaking noise that seems to be coming from the front of the tranny or the back of the engine. Does anyone know what this could be? It gets louder the faster I accelerate.
Scotty
Lift the hood, put the car in DRIVE depress the BRAKE and gently and (I mean gently) give it gas to see if the engine rises abnormally, then put it in REVERSE and do the same. You are testing for broken engine mounts. Listen and see if it still makes the creaking noise when you do this test. If not you may have a bad axle/CV joint, check your CV boots for rips. adallak
Yep... most of strange noises you hear only while accelerating (more pronounced from a stop) caused by engine/exhaust system movement relative to the body of the car. Power braking on a hoist will allow you to diagnose a broken mount or whatever else even easier since you see most of them from beneath.
