sprucegoose
I just finished up my rear caliper and brake pad painting project this afternoon and it looks fantastic! But in the process of cleaning and painting, realized how badly the rubber seals are crumbling on the drivers side caliper pins. I am really sure that if I leave them that way for much longer they will corrode the pins and I will be in trouble... I have just removed the lower pin (with the 12 mm hex head) and pivoted up to remove the pads, but how do you remove the upper pin to service that bushing/seals? It appears to have some kind of rubber cap over the end... do you just pry that off to expose some kind of socket head screw? Will have to check around to see what is available for the hardware kit. Anyone buy a bushing/seal kit for their rear brakes? Any suggestions are appreciated! '09 Cadillac CTS-4 3.6 direct injection, 128 K mi. Ranger
After you raise the caliper, then pop the rubber boot loose and slide it inboard. The caliper and pin will come right off the mount.

The caliper and pin will come right off the mount. Wow, so there really is no retainer for the top pin... That is different! Thanks Ranger. Looking at those freshly painted calipers as I pulled it in the garage a little bit ago... It looks great but I think I'll do some cross drilling on those like I did the front. Does anyone have cross drilled rotors on the rear of their Caddy here? Haven't seen any pics of them yet. '09 Cadillac CTS-4 3.6 direct injection, 128 K mi.
