bigdb55
I just got a message on the dash which said, "Snapshot Taken". This is the first time I have seen this one, and I've had the car over three years. What does it mean?
Ranger
Never heard of that happening without driver input. It means that the diagnostics took a "picture", or freeze frame so to speak of the PCM data (RPM, ECT, TPS reading, Maf reading, MAP reading etc, etc) at a specific moment for a technician to evaluate at a later time. You usually do that when you have an intermittent problem so he can "see" what is happening when it occurs.
Cadillac Jim
I recall seeing something on that in the FSM section on computer diagnosis. The 1997 FSM says that there is room in memory for two of these, then you will set a code and get an out-of-memory message. I think you need to check the codes. Post them here and maybe we can help you figure out whether you should take it in to the dealer or fix something yourself or whatever. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.
