jndnaps
Since my dash cluster is still out, I can't check codes. The traction control light came on a couple of times in the last week. When it does, the car seems to be starting off in 2nd gear. Now, my question, if I go to discount auto, will there be a code for their scanner to pick up? They said it has to be just the check engine light, not the Traction control light. Also, if I were able to see the on board computer, are there a bunch of different codes for traction control problems? I did change the EBTCM (I think that's what it was called) a few years ago when I had a problem, but then I had the traction and ABS lights on. Not sure if that's the same problem though. If so, can they be bought new? I got the last one from a junkyard DeVille.. Sorry to ask all these darn questions, but as I said before, I'm not a mechanic and dumb as a box of rocks.. So far the #3 cylinder problem is fixed.

The code readers read P codes or Powertrain codes, they are correct, I believe the dealer will be able to read it with a TECH 2 This could be due to a wheel speed sensor connector off, look behind each hub and see if the speed sensor connector is connected Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

The light went off and it's fine again though. It's an intermittent thing. I don't have the money to put the car in the shop, but it's looking like I'm gonna need to soon. Just trying to troubleshoot what I can myself because I work real cheap. Thanks for your reply. I've also been reading up on some older posts through the search option.. winterset
If I were you, I'd unplug each wheel sensor, and clean the internals with a electrical contact cleaner. I feel if you take it to a repair shop, they are going to want to replace something at big $$. Even if it is a dirty contact or a loose connection, and they see it - chances are rather than clean or tighten, they will justreplace. It's in your best interest financially to solve this on your own.
BodybyFisher
See if you can con some service manager to put a TECH 2 on your PCM to extract the codes Also, what is wrong with your dash? jndnaps
Thanks for the info. I'll try that soon. BBF, My gauge cluster went out. I can't see anything in the center cluster except the idiot lights on top. Spedo shops want about $300 to fix it.
