tezken1
I have an oily smelling smoke coming from the rear of the engine n ear the fire wall. Its starts after the car has been running for about 5 minutes. If I gas it up like to pass a car it gets worse. What could cause this sort of behavior. it almost seems like overheating but It does not smell like it.

You have complained about a flickering oil light also, This could be a case half seal or the oil manifold leaking, get under and take a look at the block, pan, and cam covers and see if you see wetness Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

And thanks for your advice The oil manifold plate, case half seal, and rear main seal can be replaced by removing the transmission from the car. Removing the transmission is a PITA but it is less of a PITA than removing the engine. When the transmission is out, I would recommend replacing the torque converter cluch solenoid, input speed sensor, torque converter and associated seals.
