Bruce Nunnally
This post: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=2415 has all the DTC codes for 1998; although the codes do change sometimes these will give you a good reference for 1997. Here are a few with text descriptions as an example: DTC P0171 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1 DTC P0174 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2 DTC P0420 Catalyst System Low Efficiency DTC P0603 Control Module Long Term Memory Reset DTC P1599 Engine Stall or Near Stall Detected but you can find the others in that post. Ranger
Only the P (PCM) codes will trip the MIL. I suspect you have a vacuum leak.
BodybyFisher
As ranger noted, you need to find a vacuum leak that is affecting BOTH banks. Look for vacuum leaks, the overpressurization valve in the intake, brake booster vacuum leak. But this could also be that the engine is being starved for fuel (causing a lean condition), check the fuel pressure idling and reving the engine Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
