Dr.Fiero
Have you checked your coolant level when it's hot? If it's blowing cold, (carefully) grab the heater hoses and see if they're warm while it's running. No hot water heading for the core... no heat.... BodybyFisher
Also, check your purge line to make sure that it is flowing. The purpose of the purge line is to let air out of your cooling system. If air can not get out, your water pump will cavitate and you will have bad heat Check the coolant level as noted and you can reverse flush your heater core till it flows clear and clean Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Ranger
The purge line is the 3/8" line that runs into the side of the surge tank near the top. That said, your problem is caused by the HG. It's pumping "air" (exhaust gases) into the cooling system and they are being trapped in the heater core. No hot coolant = no heat. I doubt anything you do short of repairing the HG will get you any heat.
BodybyFisher
Go to the top of the page and put purge line in the search box, there are photos and descriptions that have been posted hundreds of times The heater hoses are attached to the heater core, the heater core is in front of the passenger, under the hood you will see two hoses under the fender going into the firewall, they connect to the heater core there. Follow them to the other end, disconnect them, and blow a garden hose through them in both directions, not an especially easy job, but if your heater core is clogged its a good way to clear it out Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

I reviewed some of the posts here and I filled the reserve tank which was a little low and felt the heater hoses going into the firewall and they were warm but not real hot. When pressing the climate control buttons to change from defrost and fan etc I do get heat very briefly thru the dash vents. Everything was working great till this am. I am at a loss. Any ideas? Btw we had a couple inches of ice this am and freezing rain as opposed to 60 degrees yesterday. Could something be stuck or frozen? I had to drive the car about 90minutes for work at froze to death. Plz help with any advice. Thanking u in advance.
