JimD
Are the intake gaskets reusable?? I know this question has been part of many posts over the years, but I do not remember the stated experience of folks who have been there - done that. I will be installing a new starter as soon as I can arrange for a parts chaser rental car!! Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! BodybyFisher
Are the intake gaskets reusable?? I know this question has been part of many posts over the years, but I do not remember the stated experience of folks who have been there - done that. I will be installing a new starter as soon as I can arrange for a parts chaser rental car!! I recall the guru saying they could be reused as long as they were not damaged, if they were damaged only slightly, a dap of O2 safe gasket gunk compatible with the seals can be applied. That is my recollection, Jim Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

joeb
if the silicone rib is crushed flat, than i would change them. they might have trouble resealing once you break them loose from the bottom of the intake/head surface. same for valve cover gaskets. if they appear flat/crushed than replace them.
