harddriver Posted September 19, 2004 Report Share Posted September 19, 2004 Help -- Have started (last 3 days) have what I believe is a pump whine from the transmission and for the last day a slight slipping (almost like a u-joint clunk) on start up. Need to know what $$ I am looking at. Car had a broken motor mount which is being repaired as we speak. I just completed a 500 mile trip @ 75 mph getting 19.8 mpg. I had my 91 4.9 tranny rebuilt for $1800, it was making a high idle clanking noise for years and then spontaneously blew, I think it was the SPRAG and planetary gear assembly.
