Bruce Nunnally Posted October 11, 2010 Report Share Posted October 11, 2010 Moab • Some vintage Detroit horsepower that the late author Edward Abbey bought himself as a 60th birthday treat now promises to nourish a new generation of writers and readers in the redrock desert he memorialized. A 1975 red convertible Cadillac Eldorado that Abbey drove mostly around southern Arizona in his final years has made its way to Moab after changing hands among a circuit of book dealers. The latest caretaker is Back of Beyond Bookstore owner Andy Nettell, who is auctioning the V-8 gas guzzler partly to benefit the Confluence Literary Festival here.
