The specs where the same for both the crossover to block and crossover to head bolts. I thought that seemed light, but then considering the seals are in there, going tighter would crush them. Don't forget to clean the mating surfaces good, dont use scotch gard for that purpose or around the engine, this is especially true for things that contact the oil, pieces can damage the internal engine parts, its very abrasive When you put the green hoses back on, point the screw on the hose clamps so that you will be able to get at them if you have to in the future. BodybyFisher Posted October 16, 2010 Report Share Posted October 16, 2010 No you don't need to use anything to hold them, you will notice that they are tight around the bolts, put the bolts in to hold the seals in place and then put the crossover in place, you only need to put the bolts in far enough to hold the seal in place. If you look, you will notice that one or more bolt cavities go right into the water passage/jacket, I would use some type of sealer on those bolts. Now the problem with putting something on the thread of bolts that go into the water passage is that torquing those bolts will be affected So I am now a bit confused as to whether on not you can seal those threads safely, even though I feel sealer should be used on those threads Hopefully someone will give their opinion on this. Did you find the bolt holes that go into the water passages? If you have another pump, fit the tool to that pump and make sure it sits the same way on the installed pump. We have heard this before where members had problems getting them out, I don't understand why, there is not much holding them other than tabs, I have to believe that the tool is installed wrong, go back to square one.
