Brad Boshek
Hello........I am brand new to the site and I hope that someone can help out with my situation. I have an 03 DTS with a surface mounted antenna on the rear window that On-Star communicates through. I am wanting to see if I can purchase a "fin" style antenna like the newer models offer, install it on the roof and have it work with the On-Star system as the one does currently. I have been told that my system is analog and the newer ones are digital. Does anyone out there know much about this and what my best plan of attack should be? I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you - Brad brboshek@gmail.com
Ranger
I have been told that my system is analog and the newer ones are digital. You have been told correctly. I forget when they made that change, but I am not sure if you can convert it. Maybe someone else remember or a dealer can advise you.
JimD
....I have been told that my system is analog and the newer ones are digital. If your OnStar system is working, it has to be digital. Analog cellular systems have been off the air for many years. Modifying the antenna system involves much much more than simply replacing the glass mount antenna with a roof mount antenna. And your model car is not chassis wired to integrate all the electronics involved. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
