faris_jason
I recently got a air bag light and a service air bag message. I pulled up code SDM B0087. I believe its for the side impact sesor. Any info/ troubleshooting would be much appreciated.

faris_jason
Sorry didn't mean to post my question twice. Forgot to tell you it's a 2000 Cadillac DTS.
Cadillac Jim
B0087 Supplemental Deployment Loop #2 Open That's the circuit that fires the air bag on collision. Be sure and disable the air bags before you work on them and be *very* careful with the air bag itself (don't put a cheap meter across its terminals!); they are little bombs in a bag and are quite dangerous in mishaps. I don't have that DTC in my 1997 FSM. SDM DTCs are in groups, and my model year uses SDM DTCs B1115 through B1171. The closest to a B0087 in my FSM would be B1117, Passenger Deployment Loop Resistance Open. This is the passenger side frontal air bag. This turns on the AIR BAG warning lamp. This is usually a problem with the harness or connectors. The 1997 model year Deville does have side air bags but I don't see DTCs for them in the FSM; I suspect that they are similar in troubleshooting procedures.
