rustyboltz
In the morning, I have been turning the key on twice and waiting for the fuel pump to prime the fuel system before starting the car. If I do not turn the car on twice, the car will just crank without starting. It will not even try to start. Any recommendations?

rustyboltz
I have checked for codes and I have no codes. I have been wondering if my fuel pump might be getting weak or if the injectors might be leaking (not holding pressure). Never thought about the fuel pump relay. I will check into that. heitzman
My 1996 Deville did this and it was the fuel pressure regulator. Easy fix
Ranger
Yeah, check the FPR and if that's OK, then it's likely a bad check valve in the fuel pump.
rustyboltz
I am definately going to check the fuel pressure regulator today. I have been doing some research and trying to locate the fuel pump relay to check it out. The car has 175,300 miles on it and I have been thinking that the fuel pump might be getting weak, so I checked the pump pressure and it was ok. I must say that I appreciate all the help and ideas. It's awsome...
banjer
Are you aware of the higher pump pressure required to start the engine? You should get about 50-60 LBS. pressure before engine starts, then the pressure goes down to the running pressure. Check pressure before engine starts. If it is not high, you might need a fuel pump. (not a easy job to replace) But check the relay first, like was suggested.
BodybyFisher
Put a fuel pressure gage on it also to see what happens when you turn the key on. It could be a flat spot on the fuel pump motor. You could put a volt meter on the fuel pump leads to see if you get power when the key is turned on. Ranger
50-60 psi? Where are you getting that from? Correct fuel pressure is 45-50 psi.
rustyboltz
I have checked the fuel pressure regulator and it is good and the fuel pump relay is good, I need to check the fuel pressure.
KHE
My 1996 Deville did this and it was the fuel pressure regulator. Easy fix Typically a bad FPR will cause difficult hot starts; cold starts are usually OK since the extra fuel is not much of a detriment during a cold start.
