98Concours
I just about killed myself trying to get my backseat out. This is in my 98Concours. I know how to do it, you just push the front of the seat cushion back till it unlatches, then lift the front up. I got the passenger side undone, but for the life of me, cant get the driver side to pop out of the bracket. My wrists and knees are so sore. I'm afraid if I push much more, I'll break something. (More likely I'll break some part of myself, not something on the car).lol Is there any secret I don't know? Tell me! Thanks, Jeff Jeff 98 Concours 90 Seville 04 Corvette
Scotty
I am also used to pushing and lifting, but someone recently posted that some of the seats just PULL straight up try that. Sometimes however I have had to push and lift like a Defensive Lineman to get the ?!#@$ thing out... 98Concours
Thanks, but this is def a push, then lift seat according to the helms manual. Also, I got the passenger side undone. I think the driver side is glued! Jeff Jeff 98 Concours 90 Seville 04 Corvette

KHE
The lift-up seat started with the '98 Seville and the 2000 Deville. The rear seat in my Fleetwood is easy to remove but the '96 Seville is very difficult. 98Concours
lol, I do lift weights and If i press on that darn seat any harder, I'm going to break something. I'm telling you, the driver side is glued and screwed down. I even had a friend try and help me and both of us couldn't get that side to budge. It's the wierdest thing. I've taken out lots of backseats and have never had this problem. Guess I'll just wait and do my project another time. adallak
my manual (Seville 91) says: If difficulty is experienced by 98Concours in disengaging the front edge of the rear seat cushion from retainers on rear seat pan, it may be necessary to grasp lower edge of seat cusion at location of retaine on one side of seat and exert enough rearward pressure to disengage seat from retainer. Looks like you did not apply enough rearward ressure The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
98Concours
My manual says "get a sledge hammer and go for it". LOL I know you guys are probably laughing, but this is the darndest thing. I'll probably try it again tomorrow and see if it feels like budging. Adallak, you're just too funny! sprucegoose
I was having the same kind of problem a while back trying to get mine out of my 93 Eldorado. What I found that helped me was to take a small flashlight and lift the front edge of the seat enough to see exactly where the latch was located and how it was shaped. Once I saw this it gives you a mental picture of what is happening under there and where force is needed. It seems to me I realised I had to actually push down and back at the same time, and then lift to be able to get it released from the hook shaped anchor on the floor of the car. I gave it another push and lift exactly in line with where it was located, and out it came! '09 Cadillac CTS-4 3.6 direct injection, 128 K mi. 98Concours
Sprucegoose, That kind of dawned on me last night. Maybe I need to push down a little while pushing back. I'm going to give that a try. Thanks Jeff Jeff 98 Concours 90 Seville 04 Corvette
marty
put a little of the wax based stick lube (used on door latches), makes the next time easier...had the same problem on the 2000 dhs, used a short pry bar under edge (front) of seat cushion, pushed back and then pried up, finally it came out...after lubing it will come out without anything but a good tug.....good luck
TDK
I hope you're getting closer to success. After reading Marty's post, I recalled how I had to use a thin putty knife blade to to push back the spring latch on several washing machines etc to get the lid to pop up. As Sprucegoose noted, perhaps this might work in combination with the latch area's "sweet seat spot" ? Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning. 98Concours
I've tried everything I can think of. I don't want to damage the leather or anything else. I've given up for now. It's just the drivers side I'm having problems with. I can get the passenger side undone. It's weird to say the least. Thanks for all the suggestions.
