RickSchredder
hey there, I replaced the hub assy's on my 2001 sts and now I have a fluid leak where the passenger side half shaft enters the transmission. I'm assuming that I probably dinked up the shaft seal in the process of breaking the spindle nut loose. I've ordered a new seal (and another new spindle nut for the re-assembly). My question is...do I have to remove the transmission extension housing to access the shaft seal, or is it accessible after I remove the half-shaft? Please tell me that that seal is the problem. Thanks, Rick
BodybyFisher
If you damaged the seal, you just need to pry out the old one, and tap a new one in. I replaced mine, obviously you need to pull the axle out again Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
