Bruce Nunnally
Volvo put together a live demo for the press of a new accident avoidance system. Unfortunately, the demo went the way demo's often go, and did not result in an accident avoidance. The video is in Swedish. <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"> Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube

Jan Olsson
I nearly fell of my chair when I saw this! This is one great example showing what has happened to many Swedish manufacturers. Somewhere down the road most companies decided that it was actually less expensive to hire insane amounts of consultants with little or no experience/knowledge in what they are doing rather than to have an experienced and devoted staff running the construction...at least in a short term basis. The consultants many times have a limited budget and are often involved too late in the project (usually after a couple of other consultants have tried and failed. The Swedish companies are sold and bought by foreign businessmen who of course have the same goals as the Swedish executives had, make profit and remain in business. The usual way to accomplish this goal is to move the production closer to central Europe (lesser wages for the workers, shorter transports etc) and to keep the engineers based in Sweden because they are cheap. To further reduce the costs companies starts to hire consultants which costs less because the employer don't have to pay "employer fees". Suddenly things like this happens, somewhere along the road the craftsmanship goes down the drain. Consultants in charge..just my 2 cents.
Jan Olsson
”It didn’t really work as it was supposed to, what happened?” “We really don’t know, we’re looking over why things turned up this way, but it wasn’t working as planned, as you said. It should have braked as it has done before and our system has been verified to work, now we are searching the cause and making tests but we really don’t know what have happened” “One gets a bit concerned…can this happen out in the streets too?” “No, the systems are verified, something in the test procedure affects the system…but I’ll let you know when I know what actually happened.”
