98deville
My 2003 dts has been leaking alot of transmission oil, specially when I reverse out the driveway you can see a trail of oil. I've had the axle seal replaced on the drivers side and withing 2 days it started leaking again. Im guessing from the same place. I took it to another trans. shop and they told me that the problem itsef is a bearing inside the transmission thats causing the axle to move around and that thats why i also feel the car shaking at high speeds. To fix this he said he would have to drop the transmission and have it rebuilt. Which was around $2400...Could it be the transmission ? Car only has 95,000 miles on it. And ever since I bought it I had nothing but problems with it. From the battery leaking, igntion coil, sensors, engine mounts, and so on
BodybyFisher
Logan if I recall had this problem, if it was not him, I am sure that this has been experienced by someone in the archives, and yes, their diagnosis is correct.. unfortunately. I found Logans thread, this might be related, not 100% sure http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=9191 Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

BodybyFisher
With regard to having nothing but problems. Consider that it DOES have 95K on it. From my perspective, cars when I was a kid were towed to the JUNK YARD at 115K, and if not, they needed a tranny and were rusted out. Consider that a dragster with a pit crew many times does not make it to the end of a quarter mile run with an engine that is rebuilt between runs, million dollar indy cars sometimes dont get to the end of a 500 mile race with blown ignition modules, and the billion dollar shuttle is grounded due to sensor problems and you expect NO problems at 95,000 miles and you are getting irked by it? Lets suppose for a moment that the prior owner or owners bearly changed the oil and hopefully replaced tires when they were needed. They probably replaced replaced brakes, etc as needed with little or no other PM work done like throttle body cleaning, belts, coolant changes, etc etc. NO mechanic that I know of (besides me), does a job, like say, an ISS speed sensor and replaces EVERYTHING else it needs along the job, hell I replaced my HEATER PIPES that run behind the engine when I did that job, BECAUSE I WAS in the vicinity, and the carriage was dropped, and it made it convenient to do the job. I replace STRUTS that I need, but, also replace the springs, ball joints, bushings and hub bearings while I am there. MECHANICS dont do that, NOR could you afford to have one do comprehensive work like that.... I have seen many a cadillac owner not understand why the change oil message stayed ON, after they changed the oil. They were CLUELESS and thought that it was due to a problem and didnt know that it needed to be reset... How SAAVY do you think owners REALLY are?. Get this>>>>>>NO WORK HAS BEEN DONE other than necessities. Everything that TURNS, ROLLS or is greased is GOING TO GO, and its going to SOON, that is a FACT. Now I may sound like a Cadillac basher or hater.. Nope, I am just being realistic, and it will happen with ANY car. I have a 2002 Monte Carlo and I wont BORE you with the list as long as my Johnson of the problems it currently has some of which are potentially serious. I am saying this because I want you to change your way of thinking about this. You own an 04, it LOOKS GREAT doesn't it?, its beautiful, but mechanically, its going to need maintenance. You came here and you got a confirmation of the problem you were having, and I supported it well. You are not being ripped off, and you are armed with info, that supports you, so that you KNOW you are not being played by your tranny shop diagnosis. Now just find a GOOD shop and get the job done by the BEST unless you decide to do it yourself, as LOGAN did. Complaining to me or this board about the car however is something that I don't care to hear Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
