Looked at a 2004 Deville

I just looked at 2004 Deville Blue Ice with a dark gray interior. 67500 miles.

Are there any issues I should be aware of or looking out for with this one?

Are timeserts an issue with the '04s?

I have a '97 Deville and had the timeserts done. I hope that the '04s dont have the same issues.

Any information you can provide would be great.

Thanks

Ed

The last time the headbolts on Northstars were improved in 2004.

So then timeserts should not be a concern with the '04s?

That is correct.

The bolts were improved in 2000 and again in 2004.

Pull the codes first and check everything out.

Timeserts are not the concern - they are the fix for pulled headbolt threads. The '04 model year had the improved (coarse) headbolt threads so it shouldn't have issues with pulled bolts.

I think that is a great color on the DTS! I hope it has all the options that you need and want. At this stage of my Caddy ownership (I'm on #5) I'd personally opt for the performance model if one were available. You might give up 1 or 2 mpg on the highway, but the performance and ride makes up for that all day long.

Remember too that this is right at the 5 year mark for that model and the coolant should be changed or proof given that the cooling system has been properly service. This is not so much due to any concern about the head bolts, but is generally good maintenence practice. Try to get the dealership to work it into the deal.

Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
