So I am sitting here and on comes a commercial for the Acura ZDX's active damper system system. It is about how the new ZDX uses magnetic oil in its struts/dampers while other cars use simple oil. They say it gives greater control and responsiveness. The commercial is visually impressive.Acura hypes this like it is new and like they invented it.GM has had this for years on the Corvette and Cadillacs....with the Corvette as early as 1998 having the technology. I believe that GM lacks self-promoting horn blowing marketing

Here is the link to the Corvette active suspension, for some reason, since the new board I am unable to embed any videos

There are 2 ways to embed video's on the new board:

Insert media: Click on the button that looks like 3 tv's media.png and then paste in the URL like for the video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5irhbwE8bJk

HTML: Supporting Members and Moderators can post html:

From the full editor, below the post area choose in the "options" section "click to configure post options". Then set post options to "HTML Auto line feed"

Then paste in an embedded html like this:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5irhbwE8bJk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5irhbwE8bJk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="385"></embed></object>

which will result in this:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5irhbwE8bJk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5irhbwE8bJk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="385"></embed></object>

The only real difference I have seen between the two approaches is the availability of 'full screen' mode in the html.

OK here is the correct link for magnetic ride control, Corvette had it in 2003 and Acura is acting like they just invented it. To me, this is something that Cadillac should have trumpeted loudly... they ALWAYS were the innovators

I saw a Toyota ad a year or so ago about Rainsense wipers - same thing - they acted like they invented it when Cadillac had it in 1997. My '97 STS has it and I really like the feature. The problem is the public probably believes Toyota invented it because they are brainwashed by the biased cretins in the news media.

I agree with you Mike, that GM does not do enough of blowing it's own horn.

The only ads I see are for the Malibu and how great the gas mileage is.

Or ones showing how you can abuse the new pickups.

As I have said before....I love the MR technology on my car.

The harder you drive it....the better it is.

Cadillac had it first with the 2002 STS (mid model year introduction look for RPO F55) it beat the Vette with offering Magna-ride by a few months.

GM high end cars have had adaptive suspensions for decades... My 1990 Allante had adaptive shocks too.
