JKL
My 1999 DeVille Concours runs fine, no apparent problems with ride, steering, level or tracking. But...very soon after beginning a new trip the "service stability system" message comes on. I've tried my code reader and no codes appear. If I hit the Skip button on the panel the message disappears and doesn't come back until the car has been turned off and starts again. I back out of my driveway so I'm in reverse until I get to the street. When I shift into drive that's when the light comes on. To be truthful it has come on at other times but very rarely. With no codes I cannot determine what the problem is. Anybody have any ideas?
BodybyFisher
Your code reader only reads P or Powertrain codes your Cadillac has a whole host of codes that your reader can not read I believe. Your Cadillac has an on board diagnostic system that runs tests and sets codes if the tests fail. You do not need a code reader for your car. Go to this link, and read the directions on how to read the codes for your year and post the codes you find here and we can better help you http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

I have downloaded the list of codes and how to access the diagnostic system. My schedule says this will be a couple of days in the making but I will diagnose and retrieve codes and post them as soon as possible. Again, Thanks.
