From the outside the car was turned out as close to the standard version available in showrooms (apart from gold anodized saber-spoke wheels) but it was its interior which really marked it as different. While the Maharani Special was a bit pompous, many insiders had already nicknamed it as the Kitchen Sink Cadillac just because its designers had created it for the express purpose to store, prepare, serve and clean-up an entire meal, in a setting fit for a king. The myth of the Indian maharajas had by then stoked passions in Yankeeland and so Maharani Special, was an apt title, something the Yanks thought Indian royalty had obedient wives to do their bidding.
