Topcat9pet
I have a 1994 Seville, 180K miles, that starts and runs fine for _______(pick a number) 5, 15, 22, 11, or whatever miles, then it will stop running. It will start immediately after you stop and run for awhile then stop again. No codes are set. The TPS, has been replaced. The ISCM was replaced with a used one, then with a new one. The fuel pressure regulator has been replaced. The fuel filter has been replaced. The TPS seemed to help a little by increasinging the distance between shut offs. otherwise not much has changed. Plugs and wires have been changed too. I'm down to one idea and I guess I'm looking for a "second" on that one. Thanks.

My 00 deville did this, it was the crankshaft sensor. 1 of the 2 anyway. It didnt throw codes. Im not sure if yours has the same setup mine does. * 1966 Deville Convertible * 2007 Escalade ESV Black on Black * 1996 Fleetwood Brougham Black on Black V4P -Gone* 1983 Coupe Deville Street/Show Lowrider -Gone* 1970 Calais 4dr Hardtop GONE* 2000 Deville DTS - Silver with Black Leather and SE grille GONE* 1999 Seville STS - Pearl Red GONE
BodybyFisher
I agree with juiced. You will need to replace both at the same time. Prior to replacing them I would check your fuel pressure with a gage, if you can tape it to the windshield so you can watch the pressure when the engine quits that would be good. If the pressure is ok, I would change the crank sensors Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Cadillac Jim
This could also be a clogged catalytic converter. If the fuel pump checks out, have someone stand behind the car while you blip the throttle with the engine up to 3,500 RPM or so. If they hear a hissing noise, the cat is clogged. But, first, let's see the OBD codes. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Cadillac Jim
No codes? Then my car-dar says that the likely culprits are water in the gas, fuel pump, or cat, in that order. Ranger
My money is on the fuel pump. I had a Chevy Blazer that did the same thing. It was the pump.
KHE
Crankshaft position sensors weren't a problem for that vintage car. Monitor the fuel pressure to see if the fuel pump is the culprit. Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
Topcat9pet
My guess is the fuel pump. Since it is not setting any codes and when it runs, it runs very smoothly. when I try to start the car, if I turn the key immediately to the start position, the engine will crank over three or four times, but if I turn the key on and give it a few seconds, then go to start, it starts imediately, like a Northstar should. My brother is driving the car presently and as soon as I can chase him down I will check the fuel press. and post the results. Thanks, Topcat9pet
Cadillac Jim
It does sound like the fuel pump is turning on for the first 10 seconds when the key is first turned on.
