Is social media a fad?

Recommended Posts

Social media sites such as twitter, facebook, and others are changing the way that media works

Companies tend to think of social media the same way that they thought of traditional media -- commercials, paid time on TV, advertisements.

These were 1-way messages. Social Media is all about interaction, discussion. Social Media is about exciting 2 people and they tell your story to their friends who share your story with their friends.

I know that I am an old fashioned guy... (some would say Neanderthal)

I have never used any of the "NEW", "MODERN", "HIP", social networking sites...and don't really plan to.

I don't feel "LEFT OUT" or that I am missing anything...but maybe I am.

To me, it just looks like another bunch of junk that I could waste an inordinate of time on.:lol:

I waste enough time already, can't afford to waste any more.

Just my opinion...for whatever it is worth.

I like your thinking Jim, I can tell you from experience that it absorbs time. Time is money, less time, less money, LOL..

Problem is some large percentage of the netizens ONLY access the internet through facebook or twitter or digg or other social media or aggregating services.

You guys don't have to play with them, but this is one of the things I spend a lot of time on.

We have delightful content here with a small audience. A larger Cadillac audience is out there, but can't find us. I think of the time I spend on the social media sites as lighthouse time, trying to show other Cadillac people that we are here and they should join us. You can't get much more interactive than a Discussion forum.
