Cadillac says both are designed to perform as well as previous larger engines, but with the advantage of better fuel economy and reduced emissions. These engines have a direct fuel-injection system that the automaker says reduces hydrocarbon emissions by 25 percent over larger engines of comparable power. EPA ratings for the base engine are 18 mpg city/25 highway with two-wheel drive and 17/22 with all-wheel drive. No ratings have been announced yet for the 2.8-liter V-6.
