bigfoo
Just curious.. with the hood open and the plastic cover off the top it sounds like a diesel idling.. Also with the cover on and the hood down i can hear a ticking from under the car .. sort of dieselish... doesn't seem to get louder or anything when revving.. most ticking goes away when engine is revved. Also car is on probably a 25 or so degree incline.. I know every engine ticks, but this seems a bit loud , or maybe it was just because I was out at 2am idling and it was so quiet
jschunke
My '94 Seville ticks after it warms up, and it's worse in the summer. An expert, BobB, says the valve train on the Northstar is bullet proof, and it's probably a leak in the exhaust manifold, but I don't think so. bigfoo
Heh.. Guess we will find out I drive hard. It sounds like a small diesel idling when the hood is open
stsjoe
I had a 95 Eldo that ticked also but it turned out to be a loose chunk of the water pump belt hitting the shield. Dont know if that helps Joe
bigfoo
Most of the ticking is the fuel injectors.. they are noisy little critters. But there's something deeper coming from the back or bottom of the engine... OH well.. guess I can run it hard until something blows up
