Ranger
Guru, A while back you had mentioned that heat is the worst thing for a battery. That got me thinking about heat build up under the hood, especially in summer so I have started opening the hood to disipate heat when I pull in the garage, for the summer at least. Will this help extend battery life or am I just being excentric?
JimD
.... That got me thinking about heat build up under the hood, especially in summer so I have started opening the hood to disipate heat when I pull in the garage, for the summer at least. Will this help extend battery life or am I just being excentric? I open the hood in the summer and leave the garage door open 12-18" with a fan moving air for an hour or so. But not because of the battery (mine is under the rear seat). I don't want that heat soaked car putting a large heat load on the shared wall with the house interior. It can't hurt, Larry.... KevinW
I think it's a good idea to trickle-charge the battery every so often. At a constant 1 amp, charge to the point of equalization (~15.5 V). ___________________________________________________
